Estates, trusts and multistate returns

Fiduciary and cross-state filings, handled with the record-keeping they require.

Estate and trust returns and multistate filings each depend on facts that are easy to get wrong. GTS confirms those facts before preparing anything.

Estates and trusts

Fiduciary return preparation

  • Estate income-tax return preparation
  • Trust income-tax return preparation
  • Gift-tax return preparation
  • Final individual return for a decedent
  • Beneficiary reporting from the fiduciary return
  • Coordination with the executor, trustee, or their attorney

Where our role stops

GTS prepares fiduciary tax returns and explains their tax consequences. Drafting or interpreting a will or trust instrument, probate administration, and estate-planning legal advice are the work of an attorney. We coordinate with the attorney handling the estate rather than substituting for one.

Multistate

Out-of-state and multistate returns

  • California resident returns with income sourced to other states
  • Nonresident state returns
  • Part-year residency in the year of a move
  • Credit for taxes paid to another state
  • Multi-state business filings where the entity has activity elsewhere

Which states we accept

California is the firm's primary state, and GTS prepares out-of-state and multistate returns beyond it. The states accepted for a given tax year are confirmed with you during intake, and we tell you directly if a state or return type falls outside the current scope. We do not advertise blanket preparation for all fifty states.
